Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Machine Mechanic for a contract-to-hire role in Carol Stream, IL. The successful candidate will work in a rebuilding and job shop environment focused on custom machine building, evaluating machines, tearing down for inspection, and repairing equipment to ensure safe, productive operation.

Responsibilities include mechanical troubleshooting, wiring and basic electrical work, welding/fabrication support, and collaboration with the welder/fabricator.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, machine builder, or custom automotive mechanic/fabricator.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose root causes of failures.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools used in repair and assembly.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate machines on arrival to determine condition and required work.
• Perform complete breakdowns and teardown for inspection and repair.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and identify root causes of equipment failures.
• Troubleshoot and repair used packaging machines to ensure productive operation.
• Rebuild equipment and verify proper function after repairs are completed.
