Role Description

The Custom Interiors Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for luxury retail and commercial interior projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing architectural and design drawings, quantifying materials and labor, obtaining and analyzing vendor and subcontractor quotes, and developing clear, itemized proposals. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to align estimates with design intent, schedule, and budget constraints, while applying value engineering where appropriate. The estimator will update and maintain cost databases, support pre-construction planning, and participate in project handoffs to ensure smooth execution from spec to install. This is a full‑time remote role.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in construction and interiors estimating, including quantity takeoffs, cost modeling, and proposal preparation for custom millwork, architectural furniture, decorative lighting, and specialty metalwork.
• Proficiency with relevant software such as estimating tools (e.g., Excel-based estimating, specialized estimating platforms), project management systems, and digital collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and installation methods used in luxury retail and high-end commercial interiors, including millwork, metalwork, lighting, and FF&E sourcing.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to interpret architectural and shop drawings accurately.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams, vendors, and clients in a remote environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage deadlines, and adapt estimates based on evolving designs and value engineering requirements.
• Prior experience as an estimator, project engineer, or similar role in custom interiors, commercial construction, or fabrication is highly beneficial.
• Relevant education such as a degree or technical training in construction management, architecture, engineering, interior design, or a related field is preferred.
