Job summary

Wichita State University is seeking a Custodian Specialist, Senior to perform specialized custodial services, including maintenance and repair of equipment, floor cleaning and finishing, and carpet and upholstery care on campus. The on-site position works 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with pay starting at $16.49 per hour plus a $0.60 shift differential, commensurate with experience.

You will operate scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors, research parts for repairs, and assist with safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in custodial equipment repair.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Performs specialized custodial services, such as maintenance andrepair of custodial equipment, floor cleaning and finishingequipment, carpet and upholstery maintenance equipment.

Essential Functions

Maintains and performs minor repairs on custodial equipment, suchas vacuums, floor and carpet cleaners, etc. Completes basicmaintenance on floor care equipment.

Researches sources and specifications to order parts for equipmentrepair and maintenance.

Performs specialized custodial services such as floor cleaning andfinishing, carpet and upholstery maintenance, cleaning buildingfurnishings and/or procedures using specialty cleaningchemicals.

Utilizes cleaning machinery such as scrubbers, buffers, and carpetextractors for floor care maintenance.

Provides all floor care services including strip, wax, carpetcleaning and may provide disaster recovery for affectedflooring.

Cleans and services assigned areas in University buildings andmaintains sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performanceof these duties.

Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such asroofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in custodial equipment repair

Required License/Certifications/Training:

• Valid Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of operation and care of equipment, including, butnot limited to: vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishingmachines, and other janitorial equipment.
• Ability to work effectively with fellow workers andothers.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Ability to understand and follow explicit instructions, both inoral and written form.
• Ability and willingness to perform any of a variety of routinecleaning tasks.

Due to ITAR regulations, the chosen candidate must be a US Citizento be considered for this role.
