Job summary

Dundee Township Park District is seeking a Custodian for a part-time, hourly non-exempt position. You will maintain clean, safe spaces, assist with event setups, and support training of part-time staff to ensure facilities are welcoming and ready for community use.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with facility cleaning and maintenance preferred.
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and awareness of safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting restrooms.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.
• Move furniture and equipment; assist with event setups and breakdowns.
• Handle minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing lightbulbs, minor plumbing/electrical work).
• Maintain vending machines and manage trash disposal.
• Respond to weather needs including snow shoveling and salting walkways.
• Lock/unlock facilities, arm/disarm alarms, and ensure building security.
• Support part-time staff and assist with training when needed.
• Report larger maintenance concerns to supervisor and uphold safety standards.

What You Bring

• Leadership skills and ability to guide or oversee part-time staff when needed

Schedule

This is a part-time position with weekend availability required. Weekend differential increases pay to $17.00 per hour

Typical Hours

• Saturdays & Sundays between 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. – Midnight
• Hours may vary based on programs or facility rentals

Training Requirement

• 1-week training required during weekdays (7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) prior to regular shifts.
