General Purpose
Maintain the interior and/or exterior of the locations in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner (e.g., offices, warehouses, plant/manufacturing areas).
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean internal building appearance through good housekeeping, organization, and management of walking surfaces.
- Follow work schedules to complete all required cleaning and sanitizing, and perform non-routine cleaning as per job orders.
- Perform custodian duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, debris removal, trash and recycling management, using equipment like floor sweepers, polishers, vacuum cleaners, dusters, forklifts, and company vehicles.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, locker rooms, breakrooms, and footbaths; replenish supplies as needed.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, notify appropriate personnel or update supply sheets for reordering.
- Ensure exterior cleanliness and safety, including outdoor facilities and grounds maintenance, possibly operating power equipment.
- Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests promptly.
- Use chemicals appropriately for sanitizing and cleaning.
- Assist with inspections and special events, and coordinate with environmental health and safety (EHS) staff.
- Distribute PPE as needed, following all safety laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Adhere to all GMPs, food safety, quality, and sanitation standards, reporting issues to QA personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: janitorial or cleaning experience.
- Required: Powered Industrial Forklift certification/license and valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
- Ability to work safely, follow policies, procedures, and laws.
- Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to write legibly for record keeping.
- Basic math skills.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Willingness to work occasional overtime.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook) are a plus.
