Job summary

Ramapo High School is seeking a full-time Custodian for the night shift, with hours from 3pm to 11:30pm. The role supports facilities operations and safety, reporting to the Coordinator of Facilities and Operations or designee.

This position requires a Black Seal Boiler Operator License or progress toward one within a year and a valid CDL with appropriate endorsements to transport students. Candidates must have at least one year of related experience, a clean driving record, and the ability to

Qualifications

• Hold a Black Seal Boiler Operator License or be able to obtain within one year of employment.
• Hold a valid Drivers License and hold a valid CDL (or obtain within one year) with endorsements to carry school children in buses with air brakes.
• Have a minimum of one year of previous work related experience.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass federal/state background checks, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Keep assigned areas neat, clean, and safe.
• Follow work schedules set by Building Foreman or Principal.
• Check security of building and ensure exit doors/panic hardware work.
• Work cooperatively with other custodial staff during emergencies.
• Remove trash and recyclables daily; comply with disposal regulations.
• Maintain supplies/chemicals and store safely.
• Receive deliveries and move items safely as requested.
• Suggest improvements to custodial operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description:

The district is seeking a full time Custodian for the night shift at Ramapo High School, with hours from 3pm to 11:30pm.

Responsibilities:

• Keep assigned areas of the building neat, clean, and safe.
• Follow work schedules and temporary work schedules assigned by the Building Foreman and/or Principal of the school.
• Check regularly the security of the building and ensure that all exit doors are operational and that all panic hardware is working.
• Working cooperatively with other custodial employees during emergency operations.
• Remove trash and recyclables daily and comply with all laws, regulations and procedures for the storage, disposal and or collection of trash, waste, and recyclables.
• Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning chemicals requesting replacements in a timely fashion. Store supplies and chemicals in a safe and approved manner.
• Receive deliveries to the building. Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and deliveries as necessary and requested, in a safe manner.
• Make recommendations for improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of custodial operations of the school.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Black Seal Boiler Operator License or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment
• Hold a valid Drivers License and hold a valid commercial driver's license (or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment) with no serious violations and with endorsements necessary to carry school children in school buses equipped with air brakes
• Have a minimum of one (1) year of previous work related experience
• Clean driving record and ability to pass federal/state background checks, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol screening
• Knowledge of safe driving practices and school bus operation
• Ability to check regularly the security of the building and ensure that all exit doors are operational and that all panic hardware is working
• Experience in custodial/maintenance work preferred
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude when working around students and staff

Compensation

In accordance with the RIHEA Agreement, currently from $58,131 to $73,922 plus a differential of $750 for holding a Black Seal License.
