Job summary

Wisconsin Union – Union South is seeking a Custodian Lead to oversee cleaning, train new staff, and supervise duties under the Custodial Services Supervisor. Lead responsibilities include inspecting progress and quality of building services, routine maintenance, trash and snow removal, with shifts on the 3rd shift at Union South or Memorial Union.

Work is indoors and outdoors at UW–Madison locations. The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50–100 lbs, and willingness to rotate

Qualifications

• Ability to walk, stand, lift, carry, bend, stoop and climb for the majority of the shift.
• Lift and move supplies up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to remove snow and ice outside during cold weather.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues.
• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory and requests supplies.
• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
• Keeps walkways clear of debris, snow and ice.
• Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with training.
• Uses basic equipment to clean assigned areas and remove waste.
• Responds to facility emergencies and escalates as needed.
