Job Summary

The Custodian maintains a safe, secure, and comfortable environment by cleaning and maintaining the school facility to support student learning.

Essential Functions

• Clean classrooms, restrooms, hallways, multipurpose room, offices, staff lounge, and all interior and exterior areas of the school.
• Set up and clean the dining area before, during, and after meal periods.
• Respond to emergency cleanups such as spills and clogged drains.
• Perform minor routine maintenance like replacing lights and filters.
• Perform grounds-keeping duties including litter pickup, weeding, and mowing.
• Report repair needs to appropriate personnel.
• Set up and arrange furniture for events.
• Maintain awareness of safety and security needs.
• Support Aspire’s mission, values, policies, and ethical standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Competencies:

• Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects.
• Ability to maintain records and work independently.
• Appropriate interaction with students respecting boundaries.

Experience required:

• 1-3 years custodial experience preferred.

Physical requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, grasp, push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Repetitive hand use and good depth perception.
• Extended periods of sitting, walking, or standing.
• Dexterity for operating equipment and computers.
• Visual and auditory capacity to perform duties effectively.
