Job summary

The City of O'Fallon, Missouri is hiring a Custodian II to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming city buildings for employees and the public. This role requires a dependable, detail-oriented individual to perform cleaning duties and basic maintenance to support a professional, safe environment.

The schedule includes Sunday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and Monday–Thursday 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., and applicants must be available for these hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.
• One to two years of related experience or equivalent training.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background screening for access to facilities.

Pay: $20.35 per hour

Join the City of O'Fallon team as a Custodian II! We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming city buildings and facilities for employees and the public.

Work Schedule

• Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Monday–Thursday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Applicants must be available to work this schedule.

Major Duties

• Clean bathrooms and restock supplies.
• Clean offices, including floors, blinds, and furniture.
• Empty trash and recycling containers.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs.
• Report maintenance needs to appropriate personnel.
• Unload and inventory cleaning supplies.
• Launder towels and mop heads.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Remove snow from sidewalks.
• Assist with setting up meeting spaces.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• One to two years of related experience or equivalent practical training.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background screening for access to law enforcement facilities.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of custodial maintenance tools, equipment, and cleaning methods.
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Ability to safely and effectively use assigned tools and equipment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and established guidelines.

Work Environment

This position primarily works indoors and requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, crouch, lift objects, climb ladders, and operate custodial tools and equipment. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, noise, cleaning chemicals, and machinery. Appropriate protective equipment, such as masks, goggles, and gloves, must be used as needed.
