Job summary

Cumberland County Schools at 358 Luther Nick Jeralds Middle in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Custodian I for a 12-month position. The role requires CDL bus licensing and duties include cleaning, maintenance of facilities, and occasional bus driving as needed.

Immediate start available and CDL training may be provided. Responsibilities include following cleaning schedules, reporting damages, and maintaining a safe, sanitary environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively with other people.
• Ability to read and write.
• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• General knowledge of school heating system operation and maintenance.
• Possess physical strength sufficient to perform assigned duties.
• Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so.

Responsibilities

• Performs recurring tasks under direct supervision in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules.
• Changes in work methods or procedures are indicated by a supervisor and work is reviewed to assure completion of assignments.
• Performs heavier cleaning tasks in school buildings and moves furniture and supplies as needed.
• Washes windows, vacuums carpets, cleans restrooms and fixtures, replenishes supplies, and replaces light bulbs.
• Maintains cleanliness by removing litter and reporting damages or needed repairs.
• Reports delays and accidents and cleans the interior of the bus when required.
