Job summary

The College of Idaho is seeking two Custodians to join our Facilities team. You will help keep classrooms, offices, residence halls, and public areas clean and welcoming for students and staff on a temporary-to-hire basis. The role requires reliability, attention to safety, and the ability to work a 6:00 a.m.

to 2:30 p.m. shift. Benefits include tuition waiver for dependents, health insurance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check.
• Strong English communication skills, spoken and written.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Adhere to safety procedures and wear PPE as required.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, residence halls, and public spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas to standard.
• Disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies, and empty trash/recycle.
• Perform floor care and basic maintenance as needed.
• Report safety hazards, equipment issues, and supply needs promptly.
• Support campus events with evening, weekend, or holiday coverage.
• Operate custodial equipment safely in accordance with guidelines.

Key Functions

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, residence halls, public spaces, restrooms, andother campus facilities.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas according to establishedstandards.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms; replenish soap, paper products, and other supplies.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Perform floor care duties, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning as
• needed.
• Maintain building entrances, walkways, and common areas to ensure a safe and welcoming
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and supply needs
• Safely operate and maintain custodial equipment and utilize cleaning chemicals inaccordance with safety guidelines.
• Support campus activities that may require evening, weekend, or holiday coverage.
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
• Have strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Follow proper safety procedures (i.e. wear safety glasses, gloves, etc. these will beprovided)
• Possess a strong work ethic and unquestioned personal integrity
• Possession of a current, valid driver’s license; vehicle insurable with a good driving record in accordance with The College of Idaho’s vehicle policy.

Work Schedules:

• Shift 2 - Sunday – Thursday 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (with some flexibility)
