Job summary

The City of Shoreview, MN is hiring a full-time Custodian to maintain the City Hall and Community Center facilities. You will help keep restrooms, floors, and common areas clean for over 500,000 annual visitors.

The role supports a seven-member team and participates in safety and policy adherence. Typical third shift hours are 8:30pm–5:00am, Friday through Tuesday, with duties including cleaning, room setup, and minor repairs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year custodial experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs frequently and 50-100 lbs occasionally; passes physical exam.

Job description

The City of Shoreview now hiring a full-time Custodian to work in our active Shoreview Community Center and City Hall complex. This position is essential to providing a clean, safe and sanitary environment for our guests. We have a team of 7 full-time custodians for this busy facility that serves over 500,000 visitors each year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas including locker rooms, pool, fitness room, gym, running track, meeting rooms, offices, restrooms, hallways and other areas; Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing walls, floors, carpet, bathrooms, furniture, removing refuse and preventative maintenance.
• Operate equipment used in custodial operations.
• Replace light bulbs, showerheads and other minor repairs.
• Prepare room and equipment set‑ups.
• Deliver quality customer service to our guests and staff, prepare shift reports, and communicate with the supervisor and other staff.
• Train and provide limited daily work direction to associate staff as needed/assigned.
• Perform in accordance with appropriate policies, safety and security procedures.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1 year custodial experience
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. frequently and lift/move 50-100 lbs. occasionally
• The final candidate will be required to pass a physical exam and background check

Desired Qualifications:

• Additional custodial experience
• Post high school degree or training such as Certified Custodian, Special Engineers Class C, Second Class Grade C license
• Previous experience in a health club or recreation/fitness center
• Experience with tile area cleaning equipment, carpet cleaning equipment and commercial vacuum cleaners

Hours:

Third shift: 8:30pm - 5am, Friday - Tuesday (Off Wednesday/Thursday)

Hiring Wage Range:

$24.41 - $26.91 per hour depending on experience, plus excellent benefits.
