Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience.
• Six months of supervisory experience or Shoreview Community Center guest services experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day activities in the community center.
• Provide information and assistance to guests and members, addressing concerns and complaints.
• Conduct building walkthroughs to ensure safety and enforce policies.
• Communicate with staff via daily written reports.
• Independently set up rooms with tables, chairs, and technology.
• Educate potential members about membership benefits, provide tours, and make recommendations.
• Support in the sales office; contact potential members and process reports.
• Support service desk and cafe by supervising staff and resolving guest issues; process transactions.
• Operate computer and cash register.
• Follow safety and security procedures.
• Be punctual and arrange substitutes when absent.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

The City of Shoreview is accepting applications for a Manager on Duty position to work in our active Community Center. This is a fast-paced environment with over 500,000 visitors to our facility each year. The Community Center has two banquet rooms, meeting rooms, a fireside lounge reception area, a gymnasium, fitness studios, a running/walking track, fitness center, indoor water park, child care center, locker rooms and more. Our Parks & Recreation Department offers a wide variety of classes and programs throughout the facility as well.

• Coordinate day-to-day activities in the community center
• Provide information and assistance to guests and members, including addressing customer concerns and complaints
• Conduct building walkthroughs to ensure guest safety and enforce community center policies
• Communicate with community center and parks & recreation staff through daily written reports
• Independently complete room set-ups including tables, chairs, technology, etc.
• Educate potential members regarding membership benefits, provide tours and make appropriate recommendations
• Provide support in the sales office; place calls to potential members; and process reports
• Operate in a support capacity at the service desk and the cafe by supervising staff, troubleshooting guest issues and concerns, completing transactions
• Operate a computer and cash register
• Perform in accordance with appropriate safety & security procedures
• Arrive on time for shift; find substitute to work shift if a planned absence is necessary
• Other duties and special projects as assigned

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

• One year customer service experience
• Six months supervisory experience or six months Shoreview Community Center Guest Services experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS

• Managerial experience
• Additional customer service experience
• Additional supervisory experience
• Current CPR & First Aid certifications
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report

This is aPART-TIMEposition. Hours are based on business needs and applicants' availability.
Generally, Community Center Hours are : Monday - Friday 5 am - 9 pm; Saturday & Sunday 6 am - 8 pm.
In addition, we are open 364 days a year with limited hours on holidays including Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. We are closed on Christmas Day.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role requires prolonged standing and walking while supervising multiple areas, assisting members and guests, and responding to operational needs. Duties may involve walking throughout the facility to provide tours, assist patrons, ensure policies are followed and set up various rooms. Employees will occasionally lift, carry, push or move tables, chairs and other equipment weighing 50 pounds. Evening and weekend shifts are required and some events may include both indoor and outdoor responsibilities. Work may involve multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer service.
