Job summary

Grayson College in Denison, IA is seeking a Custodian to help keep campus facilities clean and safe for students and staff. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, trash removal, and floor care to support a healthy learning environment.

Work hours are 2:00 am to 10:00 am, Monday through Friday, with overtime possible for events. The position starts at $13.50 per hour and benefits include health, dental, vision, life and tuition assistance for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• No high school degree required.
• Must be able to operate cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Moderate physical exertion is required including walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, stretching, and reaching.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Performs general custodial duties of all buildings, including trash removal and sanitation.
• Sweeps and mops floors and cleans bathrooms.
• Cleans carpets and floors with appropriate methods.
• Vacuum rooms with carpeting.
• Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures and refills disposables.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Custodian

Work hours are from 2:00 am to 10:00 am Monday - Friday.

Overtime may be required for special events.

The pay rate starts at $13.50 per hour.

Responsibilities

95% Performs general custodial duties of all buildings. Routine duties include but are not limited to the following:

• empties, sanitizes, and relines trash receptacles
• sweeps and mops floors
• cleans and sanitizes bathroom and bathroom fixtures and refills disposable items
• vacuum rooms with carpeting
• strips, scrubs, seals and buffs tile floors
• cleans carpets

5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Up to six months of similar or related experience. Two years responsible experience in a similar custodial job preferred.
• No high school degree required.
• Normal courtesy in dealing with others required.
• Must be able to operate cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Must have basic computer skills and the ability to learn institutional software programs and systems.
• Moderate physical exertion is required including walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, stretching, and reaching.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
