Job summary

The Davenport Community Schools is seeking a Custodian for an 8-hour day shift at North High. The position includes evening hours (3:15 PM–11:45 PM) and a willingness to work day shifts during Winter, Spring and Summer breaks.

Internal bids are preferred; external hires considered if no internal bidder is successful. Starting wage for new hires is $18.17 per hour, with current employees governed by the bargaining unit's salary schedule.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean/sanitize desk/table tops, door handles, restroom fixtures
• Cleans glass
• Dusts horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, and blinds
• Wet mopping of floors, spot cleaning of carpets and hard flooring
• Assists with deep cleaning during break periods stripping, scrub & recoat, carpet extraction, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture
• Trash removal
• Removes snow
• Minor grounds keeping
• Lawn mowing
• Assists with delivery of supplies
• Properly maintains equipment
• Reports maintenance issues to Head and Lead custodians
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Cleans Restrooms
• Must work days during summer

EXTERNAL APPLICANTS (WE WILL HIRE EXTERNALLY IF NO SUCCESSFUL INTERNAL BIDDER): Open until filled.

New Hire: Entry Level Rate $18.17/hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit, please refer to the Salary Schedule established by the bargaining unit.

• Utility


• Clean/sanitize desk/table tops, door handles, restroom fixtures

Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV X Yes No)

Ability to lift & carry up to 56 lb.

Ability to climb up to an 8-ft ladder and perform custodial task ie; cleaning light fixture.

Ability to climb steps and work on uneven ground
