Job summary

Davenport Community School District seeks an entry-level custodian for Williams Middle School to cover a 7:45 pm–12:15 am shift. External applicants are welcome if no internal bidder is selected.

The position starts at $18.17 per hour for new hires. Responsibilities include vacuuming and cleaning hard and soft surfaces, taking out trash, moving furniture, performing deep cleaning, snow removal, basic grounds work, and reporting issues to management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum all areas, including hard and soft surfaces.
• Wipe down surfaces.
• Take out trash.
• Reposition furniture as required.
• Dust and vacuum ceiling vents.
• Remove trash and debris.
• Vacuum upholstered furniture.
• Assist with deep cleaning including stripping, scrubbing, recoating, and restroom/glass cleaning.
• Remove snow.
• Minor grounds keeping and lawn mowing.
• Assist with delivery of supplies.
• Properly maintain equipment.
• Report maintenance issues to Head Custodian.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Vacuums all areas- hard & soft surfaces
• Wipes down surfaces
• Takes out trash
• Repositions furniture correctly
• Dust/vacuum ceiling vents
• Removes trash
• Vacuum upholstered furniture
• Assist with deep cleaning during break periods- stripping, scrub & recoat, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture.
• Removes snow.
• Minor grounds keeping
• Lawn mowing
• Assist with delivery of supplies
• Properly maintain equipment
• Report maintenance issues to Head & Lead Custodian
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV Yes No)

Ability to lift & carry up to 56 lb.

Ability to climb up to an 8-ft ladder and perform custodial task ie; cleaning light fixture.

Ability to climb steps and work on uneven ground

Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
