Job summary

Southwest Allen County Schools is seeking a Custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance in district facilities, with responsibilities for keeping classrooms, hallways and grounds clean and safe. The role includes operating floor machines and vacuums, and assisting staff and students as needed.

We offer a 12-month position with full benefits; hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM with a $0.25 shift differential and potential overtime depending on school activities and weather.

Terms of Employment

This is a 12 month position and eligible for full benefits. Hours are 11-7 am, with a shift differential of $.25. Hours may vary due to school activities, summer work or inclement weather. May require overtime.

Purpose

Perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary. Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of cleaning and related custodial duties is desirable. Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, machines, and equipment such as floor machines, vacuums, etc., is desirable.

Must be able to lift, pull or push 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. A 50-pound lift test will be required. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and the general public. Must be able to get along with others in a team situation.
