Job summary

Southwest Allen County Metropolitan School District is seeking a Custodian for Homestead High School. The position runs 12 months with a permanent benefits package and the shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM; occasional overtime may be required due to school activities or weather.

The role involves general cleaning, maintenance of school facilities, and equipment upkeep while assisting students, staff, and visitors as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning and related custodial duties is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, machines, and equipment such as floor machines, vacuums, etc., is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary.

Terms of Employment

This is a 12 month position and eligible for full benefits. Hours are 11-7 am, with a shift differential of $.25. Hours may vary due to school activities, summer workor inclement weather. May require overtime.

Purpose

Perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary. Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of cleaning and related custodial duties is desirable. Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, machines, and equipment such as floor machines, vacuums, etc., is desirable.

Must be able to lift, pullor push 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequentlyand 50 pounds occasionally. A 50-pound lift test will be required.

Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staffand the general public. Must be able to get along with others in a team situation.
