Job Summary
Custodian (3 positions) at USC Upstate, Spartanburg, SC. Performs custodial and housekeeping duties on the USC Upstate campus for assigned buildings, covering all general cleaning, floor maintenance, and facility support tasks. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and the ability to work multiple buildings on a rotational schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning for all elements of restrooms, classrooms, lobbies, common areas, office areas, and other building spaces.
- Carry out floor maintenance activities including polishing, buffing, stripping, sealing, washing, and using carpet care methods in both wet and dry systems.
- Transport cleaning supplies and tools between facilities and buildings; move waste and recyclables to designated campus dumpsters.
- Manage inventory supplies and materials for all buildings, monitor event communications, inspect and report building deficiencies, and submit work requests through the work management system.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; minimum 1 year of related custodial experience.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and USC Upstate’s general housekeeping standards.
- Capability to make minor repairs and adjustments of equipment.
- Strong work‑order management skills and knowledge of OSHA safety standards, including completion of annual OSHA training.
- Excellent flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, overtime, and multiple buildings on a rotational schedule.
- Successful background check and good driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma with at least 2 years of related custodial experience or equivalent.
- Considerable knowledge of custodial operations and methods.
