Job summary

Davenport Community School District is seeking an entry-level custodian. The role offers a starting rate of $18.17 per hour and includes essential cleaning tasks across facilities.

Responsibilities cover dusting, mopping, deep cleaning, snow removal, grounds maintenance, and assisting with supplies. Applicants must meet general qualifications and be available to work summer days. This position supports a safe, clean learning environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 56 lb.
• Ability to climb up to an 8-ft ladder and perform custodial tasks such as cleaning light fixtures.
• Ability to climb stairs and work on uneven ground.
• Meet general qualifications listed in the custodian job description.

Responsibilities

• Dusts horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, and blinds.
• Wet mopping of floors, spot cleaning of carpets and hard flooring.
• Assists with deep cleaning during break periods—stripping, scrub & recoat, carpet extraction, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture.
• Trash removal
• Removes snow
• Minor grounds keeping
• Lawn mowing
• Assists with delivery of supplies
• Properly maintains equipment
• Reports maintenance issues to Head and Lead custodians
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Must work days during summer

New Hire: Entry Level Rate $18.17/hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit, please refer to the Salary Schedule established by the bargaining unit.
