Job summary

Utah Tech University is seeking a full-time PM custodian to perform evening custodial maintenance across campus. You will supervise part-time and student workers, train staff, and ensure high cleaning standards in assigned buildings.

The role requires a high school diploma, some related experience, and the ability to work a 9:00pm–5:30am shift. Benefits are included; strong teamwork and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Six months related experience required; two years preferred.
  • Ability to work a Monday–Friday 9:00pm–5:30am shift.
  • Basic computer skills (word processing and email).
  • Knowledge of custodial tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Custodial maintenance of assigned buildings.
  • Clean and maintain floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and carpet cleaning.
  • Clean and supply restrooms with germicidal detergents.
  • Maintain entrances and exterior around buildings; remove debris.
  • Disposal of garbage in facilities and exterior bins.
  • Wash walls, boards, and furniture; remove gum and marks.
  • Wash windows and frames; change interior/exterior lights.
  • Coordinate cleaning with building schedule and report issues.
  • Assist with moving heavy equipment and supervise student staff.
  • Identify custodial needs and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with special campus projects as directed.

Position Announcement

Under the supervision of a custodial supervisor, a full-time PMcustodian completes evening custodial maintenance of assignedbuildings on campus. Custodians oversee and train part-time andstudent custodial workers to assist in the cleaning and maintenanceof campus buildings. Responsibilities
  • Responsible for custodial maintenance of assignedbuildings.
  • Clean and maintain floors in buildings by vacuuming, sweeping,mopping, waxing, and shampooing carpets, as well as pool and otherwet areas as needed.
  • Clean and supply restrooms, using germicidal detergents andacid cleaners.
  • Clean and maintain entrances to buildings and perimeter ofbuildings (up to approximately 10 feet out of building structure),such as trash pick-up, removal of gum, graffiti, cobwebs, otherdebris, etc.
  • Collect and dispose of garbage within the facilities andexterior trash cans.
  • Wash walls, chalkboards/whiteboards, and furniture, removingchewing gum, smudges, black marks, graffiti, etc.
  • Wash windows and window frames; change interior and exteriorlights as needed.
  • Coordinate cleaning with building schedule and notify PublicSafety of any problems that may arise in the building.
  • Repair small items and seek help with skilled personnel onspecialized projects, as needed.
  • Assist with moving heavy equipment and furniture.
  • Supervise and train part-time and student custodians in theirwork assignments, as well as in safe and proper procedures.
  • Identify building custodial needs and take correctiveaction.
  • Assist with special projects throughout campus, as directed bysupervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Six (6) months of related experience required; two (2) years ofexperience preferred.
  • Must be able to work a M-F from 9:00pm to 5:30am shift, asbuilding assignment requires.
  • Basic knowledge of computers (e.g., word processing andemail).
  • Good knowledge of tools and equipment used in custodialservices, such as industrial vacuums, rotary floor scrubber, carpetextractor, and large riding equipment. Experience cleaning withinlab or specialized classrooms preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and train part-time and student employeesto complete assigned tasks.
  • Considerable knowledge of practice and procedures in custodialservices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing,and maintain effective working relations.
  • Outgoing personality, with a history of dependability,reliability, and initiative.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; physical exam and drugtesting required prior to start date.
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Full-timeovertime-exempt executive staff position. Annual salary of $36,500,with a desired start date of October/November 2026.
