Job description

Job Title: Custodian

Join to apply for the Custodian role at St. Cloud Area School District 742.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-time & Part-time. Hours may vary based on program needs.

Reports To: Director of Building and Grounds, Building Engineers, Building Principals.

Supervision: None.

Qualifications:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of work experience and education.
• Preferred: Similar job-related experience, bilingual abilities.

Position Summary: The Custodian acts as a contact point for students, teachers, support staff, colleagues, and parents. Responsibilities include daily building operations such as cleaning, grounds maintenance, community education activities, special events, security, safety, and other assigned functions.

Salary: $16.85/hr (starting salary for new hires).

Essential Duties:

1. Direct Service: Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing floors, bathroom sanitation, washing chairs, desks, chalkboards, trash removal, and locker room sanitation.
2. Grounds Maintenance: Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming, shoveling, and snow blowing.
3. Facility Maintenance: Clean and maintain cafeteria and equipment, ensure building security, and handle body fluids and secretions cleanup.
4. Customer Support: Assist with setting up for events, collaborate with staff, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
5. Administrative Support: Keep records, monitor supplies, coordinate with community groups, and adhere to privacy policies.

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

Requires standing, walking, stooping, lifting (up to 50 pounds), working with chemicals, and outdoor work in inclement weather.
