Job summary

The University of Wisconsin is seeking custodians within Recreation & Wellbeing to safeguard facilities, deliver custodial services, and maintain clean, safe spaces across the division's sites. This role supports the care of division facilities and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.

Schedule is 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and event coverage.

Qualifications

• 3 months of previous cleaning, custodial, hospitality, or related experience within an academic, commercial, or residential environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
• Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
• Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
• Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
• Report needed building repairs
• Report security violations and/or suspicious activity
• Report building system malfunctions
• Remove posters, papers, and notices from prohibited areas
• Assist and work with Rec Well Student Custodial Staff members
• Attend Divisional Staff meetings and trainings
• Participate in professional development, conferences, and trainings to advance professional knowledge
• Pursue and maintain all necessary certifications related to job responsibilities (American Red Cross Adult CPR/FA/AED)
• Exercise flexibility to work evening or weekend hours, as needed
• Perform additional tasks as directed

Compensation:

Minimum $17.55 HOURLY

Depending on qualifications the starting salary for this position is $17.55 per hour but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive night differential of an additional $2.50 per hour when you work between 6:00pm and 6:00am.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 months of previous cleaning, custodial, hospitality, or related experience within an academic, commercial, or residential environment preferred.

Preferred H.S. Diploma

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 4:00am - 12:30pm with flexibility to work some nights or weekends, as needed.
