Job summary

The Salvation Army in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our building and grounds. This role includes daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom sanitizing, and replenishing supplies, with occasional support for minor repairs and event setup.

This part-time position (27.5 hours per week) runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; one year of housekeeping experience preferred.
• Background check and employment eligibility required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout The Salvation Army building and grounds.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom sanitizing, and restocking supplies.
• Assist with minor building repairs, groundskeeping, and event setup.
• Open/close the facility, ensure safety and security, and assist staff and visitors as needed.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITYSchedule/Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday – Friday (27.5 Hours per week)Pay: $13.75-$14.00This position is responsible for:The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout The Salvation Army building and grounds. This position performs daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and replenishing supplies, while also ensuring trash removal and overall facility upkeep. In addition, the Custodian assists with minor building repairs, basic maintenance, groundskeeping, and event set-up. The role also includes responsibilities such as opening and closing the facility, ensuring safety and security, and providing support to staff and visitors as needed.
