Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated maintenance and cleaning associate to keep our buildings and grounds in top condition. The role requires ability to perform general cleaning tasks, assist with event setups, and interact respectfully with staff and visitors.

Responsibilities include maintaining light fixtures, lifting heavy items, and following safety protocols. A valid driver’s license is preferred, and health, dental, and vision insurance may be offered as part of the employee benefits

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1 year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van such as a box truck; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean working environment for Salvation Army building and grounds.
• Assist in setting up tables and chairs for meetings and events.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning; follow instructions and work independently.
• Interact professionally with the public and Salvation Army personnel; comply with policies.

This position is responsible for:Maintaining a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at the Salvation Army building and grounds, promoting health and safety.This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. Cleaning:Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, buffs, and waxes floors.Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures. Empties trash cans daily, collects trash from grounds, and sweeps outside walkways. Maintains boiler room, laundry room, maintenance closets, and ensures all storage areas are orderly and clean.Key Responsibilities:Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds.Ability to follow instructions and work independently.Ability to meet attendance requirements..Ability to read and communicate in the English language.Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work. Maintains a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.Assists in monitoring light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order and replaces light bulbs, as necessary.Assists in keeping the grounds and roof free of trash,Assists in setting up tables and chairs for meeting rooms and special events. and displays special signs, as needed.Also cleans the Citadel weekly.Performs other duties as assigned.Ability to interact professionally with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff. Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWork requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently.Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, and reaching.The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with activities occurring inside, and the worker is subject to extreme cold and heat with temperatures typically below 32° or above 100° for periods of more than one hour.
