Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a part-time Custodian to support cleaning and maintenance across multiple facilities in Oahu, including Honolulu. You will ensure safe, clean, and welcoming environments by performing routine cleaning duties and restocking supplies as needed.

The role requires the ability to work in varied conditions, including freezer settings, and to follow written and verbal English instructions. Training for forklift operation may be provided after start.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial/housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Forklift certification preferred but not mandatory; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas within the building: sweep, mop, dust, wipe down, and sanitize surfaces.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in designated areas.
• Ensure restrooms are fully stocked, clean and sanitized.
• Operate vacuum for indoor cleaning.
• Capable of performing tasks in any weather and in a freezer setting.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Work independently and as part of a team and perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.

• Position: Custodian
• Location: Oahu (Honolulu, HI 96819)
• Schedule: Friday: 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM and Sunday 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM (16 hours weekly)
• Hourly rate: $18.00
• Key Responsibilities:
• Capable of performing tasks in any type of weather.
• Ability to work in a freezer setting.
• Maintain the cleanliness of common areas within the building: Sweep, mop, dust, wipe down, and sanitize surfaces; empty trash receptacles; and dispose of waste in the designated areas.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for all occupants is a vital quality for this role.
• Clean office, storage, and docking areas.
• Ensure restrooms are fully stocked, clean and sanitized.
• Utilize a vacuum for indoor cleaning.
• Operate a forklift once HBM training has been successfully completed.
• Demonstrate the ability to operate: A pressure washing machine, leaf blower, ride-on and/or ride-behind machine.
• Attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn is essential.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Show the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the HBM supervisor
• Skills/Qualifications:
• Must pass HBM prescreen check
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Previous experience in custodial, housekeeping, or related fields preferred, but not required
• Forklift certification is preferred but not mandatory; we are willing to provide training
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is preferred
• Strong public relations and communication skills
• Capable of performing basic manual labor, cleaning common areas, frequently lifting, pushing, pressing, pulling, and carrying a minimum of 30 lbs. (up to 50 lbs.), reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, climbing, stretching, walking up and down stairways, using elevators, climbing ladders, and standing throughout shifts.
