Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a part-time Custodial-Night Porter for the Downtown area of Honolulu. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented and able to stand and walk for extended shifts, with ability to work independently or as part of a team. Training will be provided, and prior experience is not required.

Location is Downtown (Oahu, HI). Schedule is Sunday to Thursday, 4:00PM–9:00PM or 4:30PM–9:30PM (19.5 hours weekly) with an hourly pay rate of $17.50.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must pass prescreen check.
• Custodial/cleaning experience desirable.
• Able to work in various weather conditions.
• Stand/walk for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting 25–50 pounds and perform bending/stretching.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Willing to train for the position.
• Work independently and manage time well.
• English communication and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, sanitize restrooms and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum floors.
• Restroom cleaning.
• Empty trash and recycling; dispose waste in designated areas.
• Restock soap and paper products.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment for staff and visitors.
• Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

• -Cleaning, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
• -Sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum floors.
• -Restroom cleaning
• -Emptying trash and recycling bins; and dispose of waste in the designated areas.
• -Restocking supplies such as soap and paper products.
• -Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies.
• -Reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• -Ensuring a clean and orderly environment for staff and visitors.
• -Perform other tasks as directed by the HBM supervisor

Skills and Qualifications:

• -A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• -Must successfully pass prescreen check.
• -Previous experience in custodial or cleaning roles is desirable.
• -Ability to perform tasks in various weather conditions.
• -Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• -Physically capable of carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling between 25 to 50 pounds, as well as standing for long stretches and performing tasks like stretching, kneeling, bending, crawling, climbing, and pressing.
• -Competence in safely and effectively operating cleaning equipment.
• -Willingness to learn and participate in training for the position.
• -Capability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• -Good communication skills in English and the ability to work well in a team.
• -Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards maintaining cleanliness standards.
