Job Title: Custodian

This position is covered by the USW union contract. The starting hourly wage is $19.08, with a structured wage progression outlined below. Please note that this contract is currently under negotiation.

1. Step 1: Starting hourly wage: $19.08 / annually $39,703
2. Step 2: After 12 months: $20.64 / $42,940 annually
3. Step 3: After 12 months in Step 2: $22.20 / $46,176 annually
4. Step 4: After 12 months in Step 3: $23.75 / $49,413 annually
5. Step 5: After 12 months in Step 4: $25.31 / $52,649 annually
6. Step 6: After 12 months in Step 5: $26.86 / $55,886 annually

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, this role involves performing custodial duties in municipal buildings, offices, and other facilities to maintain cleanliness and safety. The position initially works at the Community Center and will transition to the new Hilliard Community Center when it opens.

Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities include:

• Operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums, auto scrubbers, buffers, power sprayers, leaf and snow blowers.
• Maintaining and inspecting equipment.
• Conducting inventory and informing supervisors of supply needs.
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and other areas, including floors, furniture, walls, windows, and doors.
• Setting up and tearing down meeting rooms, transporting equipment.
• Moving furniture and equipment as needed.
• Clearing sidewalks and entrances of snow, ice, leaves, and debris.
• Following safety precautions, understanding MSDS and PPE requirements.
• Performing on-call custodial services for emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 1 year custodial/janitorial experience.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a background free of felony convictions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform manual labor, and operate tools and vehicles safely.
• Ability to wear protective clothing and masks as required.
