Custodian
Job Overview
The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
- Perform hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste.
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment
- Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
- Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Stop at risk behavior of others and self
- Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
- Maintain clean work area
- Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
- Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
- Fill in during staff shortage
- Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
- Use proper personal protective equipment
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Understand customer service and satisfaction
- Use reporting systems and understand the environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3‑6 months of training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Completed safety and task training certification.
- Forklift certification may be required.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team.
- Knowledge of upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Requires frequent sitting and talking or listening.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Compensation and Shift
Wednesday – Saturday 5:00 pm – 4:00 am
$15.00–$16.00 per hour
