Job summary

The Salvation Army in Lancaster, PA is seeking a Driver/Janitor to support the Administration team. You will perform cleaning and sanitation duties and safely transport individuals to Salvation Army functions. The schedule is 8:30am–4pm, with a 72 Non-Exempt status and a $14.00–$18.00 hourly wage.

Applicants must have a valid PA driver’s license and a clean driving record; CDL is a plus. The organization offers generous benefits and a mission-driven workplace.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid PA Driver’s License with good driving record; CDL preferred.
• Experience with driving and property cleaning/maintenance.
• Pennsylvania background checks required (PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check).

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and Sanitation: sweep, mop, vacuum, sanitize restrooms, empty trash, dust surfaces, clean windows and common areas.
• Driving: safely transport individuals to Salvation Army functions, report damages, maintain/clean vehicles, secure vehicles at day end.
• Record keeping and compliance: report problems to supervisor, perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

DUTIES:

Cleaning and Sanitation

• Sweep, mop, vacuum floors in all areas of The Salvation Army properties.
• Clean and sanitize restroom, including toilets, sinks, floors.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, including tables, chairs, and countertops.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
• Maintain cleanliness in common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, and meeting rooms.

Driving

• Safely transport individuals to and from Salvation Army functions.
• Record any damages or wear in bus journal and report to Supervisor.
• Maintain/Clean the interior and exterior of vehicles, Report any problems to supervisor.
• Responsible for securing vehicles at the end of the day: locking all doors and windows and removing trash and lost and found items.
• Abide by all applicable driving laws and regulations.
• Participate in drug testing as requested.
• Do special pick-ups assigned by supervisor’s instructions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and report problems to supervisor.
• Keep all maintenance equipment in working condition and clean after every repair.
• Assist in unloading and storing vendor deliveries and donations.
• Pick up weekly food bank orders and deliveries to specific storage areas other errands as assigned.
• Maintain organization of all Corps storage areas and assist as needed.
• OTHER: Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Valid PA Driver’s License with good driving record, CDL preferred.
• Experience with driving and property cleaning/maintenance.
• Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
• Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
