The ideal candidate takes pride in keeping facilities running smoothly, has strong basic trade skills (plumbing, carpentry, painting), and thrives in a supportive, community-focused environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Custodial & Sanitation Duties

  • Daily Cleaning: Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum administrative offices, common rooms, classrooms, and hallway floors.

  • Restroom Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and restock all restrooms throughout the building.

  • Trash & Recycling: Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins daily; transfer waste to main outdoor dumpsters.

  • High-Touch Surfaces: Disinfect door handles, light switches, counter tops, and railings.

  • Supply Inventory: Monitor custodial and cleaning supplies, notifying supervisor when reordering is required.

Facilities Maintenance & Minor Repairs

  • Daily Inspection: Perform routine visual walkthroughs of the building and grounds to identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs.

  • General Repairs: Perform minor repairs on doors, drywall, light fixtures, furniture, cabinets, and hardware.

  • Basic Plumbing & Electrical: Fix leaking faucets, clear minor pipe/toilet clogs, and replenish consumable supplies in bathrooms and kitchen areas

  • Seasonal Upkeep: Assist with light exterior upkeep, such as clearing walkways, basic debris removal, shoveling and ice spreading in the winter.

  • Mechanical & Utility Checks: Monitor critical facility systems—including HVAC units, chiller, water heater, and sump pump—checking for abnormal noises, leaks, pressure drops, or error codes.

Event Setup & Support

  • Event Cleaning: Maintain clean facilities during community programs, cultural gatherings, and special events (e.g., monitoring restrooms, emptying trash bins, wiping spills, and maintaining common areas).

  • Room Setups: Set up tables, chairs, and basic audio/visual equipment for meetings, community programs, and special events.

  • Tear-Down: Clean and reset facilities following events.

  • Building Security: Ensure windows and doors are secured at the end of shifts.

4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders (including roof access), bend, stoop, and stand/walk for extended periods.

5. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

6. Friendly, respectful, and comfortable working around community members during public events.
