Job summary

VGS, Inc. is hiring a general custodian in Cleveland, OH to perform floor care and daily cleaning tasks in a commercial setting. The role focuses on buffing, waxing and stripping floors, plus operating heavy equipment and restroom maintenance.

The ideal candidate will follow safety procedures, complete tasks within timeframes, and maintain a high level of quality for customers. Federal background clearance is required; prior floorcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform floorcare to buff, wax, strip floors.

• Clean, dust and wipe furniture; empty wastebaskets and ashtrays.
• Restroom sanitation and restocking; refill dispensers.
• Assist with setup of meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Follow Account Manager instructions and safety procedures.
• Maintain equipment, supplies and supply rooms in order.

Location: 201 Superior Ave. Cleveland, OH 44114Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00pm - 5:00pmFLSA: NonexemptThe general custodian will be responsible for completing the following job duties and will have an increased focus on completing floor care responsibilities:Responsible for all floorcare to include buffing, waxing and stripping floors.Use of heavy equipment to complete floorcare tasks.Complete assigned custodial responsibilities in a commercial cleaning account.Responsible for completing all tasks assigned in the specified allotted time and for ensuring a high level of quality in all tasks performed.Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space.Clean, dust, and wipe furniture.Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean ash trays and cigarette urns. Handle recycling materials.Sweeps, mops, scrubs and sanitizes bathrooms.Refill restroom dispensers.Operate a power vacuum.Must select proper chemicals, control dilution ratios and use proper techniques for the area cleaned.Follow all manufacturers recommendations for use of all cleaning solutions.Properly stock cart.Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.Follow all instructions of the Account Manager.Follow the daily job routine in the order it is outlined.Use the correct step-by-step procedures for each cleaning task.Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment.Inform the Account Manager of any equipment malfunctions or unusual occurrences on the job.Ensure a level of cleanliness which meets the quality expectations of the customer.Maintain all equipment, supplies, and supply rooms in an orderly fashion.Regular attendance.Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a positive manner that gets along with customers, vendors, program participants, co-workers and supervisors.Responsible for following agency safety policies and maintaining a safe work environment.Must be able to pass federal clearance background check process.Previous floorcare expereince preferred.VGS, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer - Disability & Veterans.
