Job summary

Alvin ISD is seeking a Custodian Supervisor to coordinate and supervise custodial services across district facilities, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. You will establish cleaning schedules, assign staffing, and respond to emergencies and events.

The role requires five years in custodial services, supervisory experience preferred, a High School diploma or GED, and a valid Texas driver's license.

Job description

Primary Purpose

Coordinate, supervise, and monitor custodial services assigned to district facilities to ensure a high standard of cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and efficiency. Establish and maintain cleaning schedules, procedures, quality standards, and staffing assignments to support the full educational and operational use of district facilities. Provide direct supervision, training, and support to assigned custodial personnel. Respond to custodial operational issues, staffing shortages, emergencies, and special events as needed. Serve as part of the district's emergency and on-call response team and assist with preparing campuses and facilities for school activities and other district functions. This position requires the ability to work effectively under pressure, respond to changing operational needs, and provide hands-on leadership during emergencies or staffing shortages. Work Schedule: Regular work schedule begins at 8:00 a.m. and may require adjusted hours, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responses based on district operational needs.

Qualifications
Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas drivers license.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of custodial practices, procedures, and methods.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, materials, and supplies.
  • Knowledge of proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and custodial supplies.
  • Knowledge of safety practices, hazards, and precautions associated with custodial operations.
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment operation, maintenance, and minor repair techniques.
  • Ability to train personnel in cleaning procedures, safety practices, and proper use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and manage personnel.
  • Ability to provide clear verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs and procedures.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to inspect facilities and identify custodial deficiencies and operational needs.
  • Ability to establish priorities and effectively manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to maintain custodial inventory and equipment records.
  • Working knowledge of computerized work order, inventory, payroll, and reporting systems.
  • Ability to operate and demonstrate the proper use of custodial equipment.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and operate heavy equipment and materials.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with campus administrators, district staff, vendors, and custodial personnel.
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency and after-hours operational situations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Experience

Five years' experience in custodial services.

Two Years Of Custodial Supervisory Experience Preferred.
