Job summary

BAC is seeking a lead custodian to perform custodial duties at a Department of Transportation Rest Area facility, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality cleaning standards.

The role requires supervising custodial staff in the absence of the supervisor, adhering to contracted methods, and maintaining supplies and safety protocols while working outdoors and indoors in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Prior custodial experience is required.
• Must pass background screening for access to work areas.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee custodial staff activities to ensure daily tasks are completed when the supervisor is absent.
• Perform custodial work according to contracted cleaning methods.
• Cleaning duties include removing trash, dusting, vacuuming or sweeping, and restroom cleaning (mopping, disinfecting, mirrors, partitions, toilets, sinks).
• Stock supplies and ensure equipment is maintained under established procedures.
• Provide ongoing training to custodial staff and ensure quality standards are met.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform lead custodial duties at a Department of Transportation Rest Area facility in an efficient and effective manner.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.

• Oversee the activities of the custodial staff to ensure accomplishment of daily activities when the supervisor is not present.
• Ensures quality assurance standards are met by doing visual inspections and making any necessary corrections.
• Provide ongoing training to custodial staff.
• Perform custodial work according to the specified contracted methods of cleaning.
• Cleaning responsibilities include:
  • removal/disposal of trash
  • cleaning of offices including dusting, vacuuming, and/or sweeping
  • cleaning of restrooms including mopping, disinfecting, cleaning mirrors, partitions, toilets, and sinks.
  • stock paper and soap supplies
• Properly dispose of any hazardous waste material.
• Pick up litter from outside foyer and grass areas.
• Maintain supplies and equipment under established procedures.
• Perform other specified custodial tasks as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience in custodial work.
• Must be able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• Oversee day to day operations when Supervisor is not present.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience working as a lead custodian.
• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position does require the following: repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodation, when practical, can be offered to accomplish the above requirements.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Working conditions are predominantly at the Rest Area Facility, outdoors and may be exposed to inclement weather or indoors in areas that are not air conditioned.
• Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated properly and consistently.
• Involves exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., cleaning solutions and bio-waste hazards). Hepatitis inoculation recommended and provided without cost to incumbent. In accordance with OSHA standards, training will be provided prior to the initial assignment to tasks where these exposures may occur.
• Some tasks may be performed independently with little supervision.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.

$18.00 per hour
