Meijer Inc. is seeking a proactive department leader to guide operations, processes, and team development in-store. You will empower team members, model exceptional customer service, and help achieve department goals while driving a positive shopping experience.

You will engage peers, mentor staff, and collaborate with leadership on scheduling and training, ensuring product freshness, safety, and profitability.

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service and engagement with customers and team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to mentor and coach team members to meet goals.
• Ability to train new team members and cross-train staff.
• Comfort with lifting and moving products as needed.
• Positive influence to build a strong team environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience, including checkout.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily tasks.
• Mentor and coach staff to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Support training of new team members and cross-training of talent.
• Assist with department scheduling to boost engagement and profitability.
• Ensure product freshness through rotation and dating policies.
• Guide the team on food safety and safe working practices.
• Lead ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and displays where applicable.
• Contribute to Meijer culture by valuing diversity and inclusion.
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed.
