Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) invites applications for a Curatorial Assistant in Modern & Contemporary Art. This full-time position supports exhibition development, collection management, public programming, and institutional outreach with scholarly research and interpretive writing.

Qualifications

• MA in Art History or related field required.
• Minimum 2 years of museum or curatorial experience.
• Ability to write and communicate at a scholarly level.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scholarly research on modern and contemporary artists and artworks.
• Write interpretive materials such as wall labels, collection texts, and curatorial reports.
• Support exhibition planning, coordination, and implementation across departments.
• Assist in collection management, including acquisitions, loans, and documentation.
• Coordinate with departments such as exhibitions, education, marketing, and development.
• Support installation logistics and project management for exhibitions.
• Participate in public programs, lectures, tours, and outreach activities.
