Job summary

Strathmore in Montgomery County seeks a collaborative Curator for the Invitational Gallery. The role shapes the season and supports emerging and mid-career artists within the DMV region to grow their networks and exhibition opportunities.

The curator will develop exhibition interpretation, lead gallery tours, and provide curatorial support for the Sculpture Garden, with in-office duties and telework optional. Expect evenings for events and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Studio Art or Art History or equivalent work history.
• Knowledge of emerging artists or curatorial roles in museums or galleries.
• Experience with volunteers or docents.

Responsibilities

• Identify potential artists and manage invitations and artist communications.
• Manage contracts, stipends and resources with internal departments.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with artists, curators, educators, writers and cultural institutions.
