Job summary

Ha-Shilth-Sa invites applications for an Early Childhood Educator at the MMFN Early Learning Centre. You will contribute to a nurturing, culturally respectful learning environment for young children, guided by Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation heritage.

Reporting to the Child & Family Services Manager, you will develop monthly themes, document progress, and collaborate with families to support transitions to school.

Qualifications

• ECE certificate from any province/territory required.
• Valid Standard First Aid or Child Safe certificate required.
• Minimum five years teaching/early childhood experience preferred.
• Experience with special needs is a strong asset.
• RCMP clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Foster each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
• Teach children to recognise and value their heritage within MMFN culture.
• Recognise families as children's first teachers and work with parents/carers.
• Develop monthly themes and curriculum considering individual developmental needs.
• Support children's transition from preschool to the provincial school system.
• Operate the facility in compliance with child-care legislation and MMFN standards.
• Report child progress to parents and meet with families as required.
• Complete observations, reports, and related child-care documentation.
• Oversee program materials, supplies, and maintain a clean, safe learning environment.
