Culinary Technologist (Finance)

The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI's salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience, and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI's overall total rewards package. Other components may include bonuses, special pay programs, comprehensive time off, 401k with match, and a full suite of benefit offerings for you and your family.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Elevate culinary work in the preparation and development of bench top samples and new items for production, using creative knowledge of food to innovate and present products under the OSI capabilities umbrella.
  2. Work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams to execute and identify new projects.
  3. Formulate food products from bench top to commercialization, continuously developing skills in food formulation and processing equipment understanding.
  4. Participate in innovative customer presentations, cuttings, and product evaluations both internally and externally.
  5. Develop and refine professional culinary skills for design and presentation.
  6. Analyze trend data and incorporate trends with creative food design.
  7. Prepare bench top samples, evaluate ingredient and process performance against specifications, and modify as needed.
  8. Set up, perform, and evaluate production tests on pilot plant equipment such as grinders, blenders, forming, coating, cooking, freezing, and packaging.
  9. Document processes, ingredients, and results related to production tests and product evaluations, including ingredient yields, weights, and throughputs.
  10. Select and ship samples for customer evaluation.
  11. Assist with internal or external luncheon activities upon request.
  12. Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in the Culinary Center.
  13. Prepare reports for management as needed.
  14. Follow safety procedures through education, training, and the use of protective equipment, adhering to policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
  • 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in a commercial kitchen or food service operation.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
  • Culinary experience with commercialization, processing, and scientific knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to apply food formulation principles to large-scale production creatively.
  • Accurate measurement and calculation skills with ingredients.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels, including production personnel, peers, management, and customers.
  • No allergies.
Education

BA/BS or equivalent preferred.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed in a professional office and R&D Center environment, with standard equipment. This role requires 10% domestic travel, physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds, and the ability to stand or walk for over 4 hours.
