Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to support Soldiers by planning and preparing nutritious meals, maintaining food safety, and managing kitchen operations in field or fixed facilities. You will learn to plan menus, prep meals, and ensure sanitation for large groups, from 25 to 2,500 diners.

The role covers both garrison and field environments, with training that leads to civilian dining careers in restaurants or other dining facilities.

Qualifications

• Interest in cooking and related sciences.
• Understand basics of meal planning and nutrition.
• Potential applicability to civilian kitchen work.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
