Responsibilities

The Department Manager oversees the food service program at a single site, ensuring high food quality, inventory management, food safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include adhering to menus, regulations, policies, and maintaining quality standards.

  • Lead and support the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
  • Conduct staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; perform roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
  • Communicate directives effectively from management to staff.
  • Ensure safety protocols, report equipment needs or malfunctions promptly.
  • Follow infection control and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain punctuality and complete tasks timely.
  • Represent HCSG positively through courteous interactions.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree or higher in food service management or hospitality (preferred).
  • Two years of experience in food production/service and supervision (preferred).
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification (preferred or required by law).
  • Obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days of employment.
  • Obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and LTC-FSM certifications within 60 days.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication with staff and leadership.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks around food and cleaning products.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Residency within the service area.
