Job summary

The Waterford at Colby, a Sonida Senior Living community in Colby, WI, is seeking a Cook or Chef to create a welcoming, safe, and caring home for residents. You will work closely with our Dining Services team to deliver nutritious meals and maintain high service standards.

The starting rate is $18 per hour, with on-site shifts and part-time hours. Benefits include education support, PTO, referral programs, and career growth opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or guest service is preferred.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.

THE STARTING RATE: $18 per hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or guest service is preferred, but not required
• Required license/certification, if applicable
• A caring attitude and reliable attendance
• High school graduate or GED preferred
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High Experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing
• Must be 18 years of age or older
