Job summary

The Waterford at Corpus Christi is seeking a Culinary Services Cook to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX. You will plan, prepare, and serve attractive, nutritious meals, assist the Culinary Services Director, and help maintain a clean dining room and kitchen while delivering friendly resident service.

Starting rate is $16.00 per hour, on-site, part-time. We offer education and career growth opportunities; prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality or guest service is preferred;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate per state/local requirements.
• Prior senior living, healthcare, hospitality or guest service experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand recipes and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining dining services operations.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains dining room and kitchen cleanliness and service standards.
• Ensures leftovers are labeled, dated and stored properly.

THE JOB: As a Cook, you'll help create a welcoming, safe, and caring home for our residents. With your kindness, attention to detail, and dependable teamwork, you'll make a difference from the moment your shift begins. Working closely with the team at The Waterford at Corpus Christi, you'll play a key role in delivering the exceptional care and experience that defines our community.

THE STARTING RATE: $16.00 per hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or guest service is preferred, but not required
• Required license/certification, if applicable
• A caring attitude and reliable attendance
• High school graduate or GED preferred
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High Experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing
• Must be 18 years of age or older
