Job summary

The Waterford at Fairfield, a Sonida Senior Living community, is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents in our Independent Living setting. You will plan and execute daily menus, maintain high food quality, and support dining operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Key requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, a State/local Food Service Sanitation Certificate, and experience with high-volume meal prep.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Food Service Sanitation Certificate required per state/local requirements.
• Experience with high-volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred; ability to read recipes and work in a team, flexible shifts, multitask, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals on schedule.
• Assists Culinary Services Director to maintain an organized Dining Services department.
• Prepares meals for assigned shifts and ensures quality and cleanliness.
• Maintains dining standards, service delivery, and safe food handling.
• Cleans after preparation and service; manages leftovers safely.

Culinary Services Cook Responsibilities Include

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High Experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing
