Job Summary/Overall Objectives

Performs all aspects of POS (point of sale) transactions to include cash, credit cards, meal tickets, and promos. May also support the retail food serving duties as needed.

Essential Job Functions

1. POS Register Functions
2. Can effectively perform and navigate the functions of the POS system
3. Can troubleshoot issues and call for support as needed
4. Assists with the training of new register associates
5. Cash Handling Procedures
6. Operates cash register according to procedures for cash handling
7. Ensures customers are charged appropriately for food items
8. Cash transactions are immediately put in till drawer
9. Credit card transactions are processed through the payment gateway
10. Notifies supervisor immediately of any difficulties or discrepancies at the register
11. Keeps receipts of VOIDS with documentation and meal tickets for balance reconciliation
12. Performs closing shift procedures including reconciliation of till drawer
13. Customer service
14. Performs excellent customer service skills with all customers
15. Answers questions about café food items
16. Handles service recovery immediately or involves supervisor as needed
17. Receives and distributes all messages in a timely manner
18. Other duties as assigned including barista and serving duties
19. Prepares and serves drinks and food according to food safety guidelines
20. Practices good hygiene which includes hand washing and wearing hair restraints
21. Uses gloves when serving and preparing food
22. Properly labels and discards out of date items
23. Stocks items with FIFO guidelines
24. Performs routine cleaning assignments
25. Properly operates all equipment including coffee machines
26. Reports any equipment malfunctions or unsafe working conditions promptly to supervisor
27. Other duties as assigned.

Competency and Experience

Required Qualifications/Experience

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience. Ability to communicate with all members of the health care teams.
• Basic math and keyboard proficiency.
• Proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Equivalent knowledge.
• ServSafe Certification.

License, Certification & Clearances

Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).

Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
