Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is hiring a part-time Culinary Service Associate in the Campus Dining department. This back-of-house role supports food preparation, cleaning, dish room operations, and general assignments to ensure clean, efficient service.

Responsibilities include keeping serving lines tidy, assisting with basic prep, monitoring stock, operating simple kitchen equipment, and helping with dishwashing. Pay rate is $17.50 per hour, on-site at South and North Dining Halls.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours at a time).
• Ability to move around the café to attend to the needs of guests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and visual appeal of serving lines, food displays, and condiment stations throughout service hours
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing and cutting vegetables, portioning ingredients, preparing simple salads, or assembling sandwiches/wraps as directed by culinary staff
• Monitor and replenish food items on serving lines, ensuring a continuous supply and alerting cooks to low stock
• Operate and maintain basic kitchen equipment safely, such as toasters, warmers, beverage dispensers, and coffee machines
• Clean and sanitize workstations, serving utensils, and equipment before, during, and after shifts
• Assist with dishwashing duties, including scraping, loading, and unloading the dish machine, and proper storage of clean dishware
• Support inventory management by assisting with the receiving, rotating, and proper storage of food and supplies
