Job summary

The Doe Fund Inc. in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Food Service Worker to support kitchen operations across cleaning, prep and cooking tasks. You will work 2-3 days cooking and 2-3 days cleaning, assisting junior staff and culinary trainees in our training program.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years cooking experience preferred.
• Excellent culinary skills.
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation in the workplace, especially DOH regulations.
• Attention to detail and sanitation rules.
• Must have basic reading and math; High School Equivalency preferred.
• Must be able to take direction: ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed.
• Utilization of knife cuts in a fast, efficient, and safe manner.
• Interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Flexibility in schedule with the ability to work early mornings, weekends, and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sanitize and organize dishes, pots, pans, etc., throughout the scheduled shift.
• Break down, clean, sanitize, and rebuild cooking equipment.
• Bring all food-related deliveries from the loading dock to the kitchen and stock dry goods.
• Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established standards.
• Assist in shift prep, maintain kitchen setup, and stock all required items.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines and complete shift checklists.
