Job summary

The Virginia Guesthouse at UVA is seeking an energetic prep cook to join our culinary team. You will help prep and fabricate food for service, read and recreate recipes, and maintain consistency across dishes while working in a fast-paced kitchen.

You will prepare cold items, salads, sauces and simple garnishes, and assist with ingredient prep and stock control. Candidates should be able to stand long hours and lift up to 50 pounds, with a passion for learning and quality.

Qualifications

• Active food handler’s certification or ability to obtain one.
• Willingness to work a variety of day, night and weekend shifts.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist culinary team in production and fabrication of food for kitchen, cafeteria, banquets and dining room.
• Read and recreate recipes and maintain consistent food preparation.
• Prepare cold items, salads and simple garnishes; assist with ingredient prep and inventory.
• Maintain clean, organized workstations and proper food storage; minimize waste through cross utilization.
• Work with a world-class culinary team to develop skills and grow within Pyramid Global Hospitality.
