Job summary

The Center for Discovery Inc. in Harris, NY is seeking a Teaching Chef to provide hands-on culinary instruction paired with nutrition education for students with diverse learning needs.

You will design safe, structured, and accessible lessons, adapt to each student’s needs, and work with interdisciplinary teams to build skills for independence, communication, and vocational readiness.

Flexible scheduling with 4 ten-hour days or 5 eight-hour days may apply to evening sessions.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional training in Culinary Arts or related field; Bachelor's preferred.
• Professional culinary experience required; teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with children or individuals with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on culinary instruction in a learning environment.
• Incorporate nutrition education into lessons for students.
• Help students develop functional academics, independence, and vocational readiness.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and the Department of Nourishment Arts.
