Job summary

WSU Tech is seeking a Culinary Support Specialist to assist with daily operations at the NICHE Campus Bistro, events, and Food Hall. This hands-on role emphasizes food preparation, service, baking, and collaboration with NICHE staff to deliver a welcoming experience for students, employees, guests, and the public.

You will support planning and execution of events, maintain safety and sanitation, and help run a busy coffee shop when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
• ServSafe Manager certification required.
• Experience in kitchen, food service, Bistro, or hospitality preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to operate kitchen and food service equipment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Professional and courteous interactions with students, employees, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Support daily NICHE Bistro operations including prep, cooking, plating, and service.
• Assist with events, catering, and special functions setup and cleanup.
• Support Food Hall operations and coffee shop as needed.
• Assist with baking and other culinary production activities.
• Provide food service during classes and instructional activities.
• Maintain inventory, stocking, and proper storage of food and kitchen supplies.
• Keep kitchen, Bistro, Food Hall, and event areas clean and sanitary.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, health department, and organizational requirements.
• Operate kitchen, food service, and coffee shop equipment safely.
• Deliver professional service to students, employees, guests, and the public.
